Great News! My family and I are featured in Chris Rock's new comedy, Good Hair. This movie explores black women's issues in achieving various looks for their hair. It also examines many of the players in the industry including Bronner Brothers and Dudley Products, two of the major black-owned manufacturers left in the ethnic hair-care industry.
Chris and his film crew visited our headquarters in NC and filmed us making relaxer. My father and our plant manager Eric gave Chris the royal tour. Chris even decided to pack some of the product in boxes as it came down the line. They also filmed several students attending Dudley Cosmetology University, our advanced training academy for experienced cosmetologists. Chris had a good time interviewing everybody.
They also filmed me giving an inspirational speech to these students at their graduation ceremony. It brought many to tears. Unfortunately, many of my best scenes ended on the cutting room floor. Oh, the agony!
Check out this trailer and look for Good Hair to appear in your city starting in October. Have fun!
